    On 5 September 2024, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) organized the Award Ceremony for Outstanding Students and Graduates 2024 at Chalermprakiat Building. In this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU, presided over the ceremony and presented the plaque. The ceremony celebrated
    and recognized the outstanding achievements of individuals who have made significant national or international contributions. This year ceremony honored a total of 58 alumni, graduates, and students, including;

    • 25 recipients for Career Success
    • 13 recipients for Outstanding Achievements, and
    • 20 recipients for Social and Institutional Contributions

    Samsorn Plaque of Honor Offering Ceremony

    Samsorn Plaque of Honor Offering Ceremonywasorganized in 5 September 2024, celebrating 46th year Anniversary of STOU at Aneknitat Building (Conference Hall). Dr. Niran Jongwutiwes, Acting Chairman of the University Council, presided over
    the ceremony and presented the Samsorn Plaque of Honor. Also, Asst. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU, delivered the welcoming speech.

    Samsorn Plaque of Honor is the highest honor and recognition bestowed by STOU. It is awarded to organizations or individuals who have provided assistance, promotion, and support for STOU’s educational management.

    STOU TikTok Challenge

    STOU TikTok Challenge is categorized in 3 categories; The High School Category, The Higher Education Institutions and Prachachuen Research Network Category, and The General Category. There were 14 TikTok video clips that went into the final round. The judges included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanoknart Boonwatthanakul, From Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sungworn Ngudgratoke, Director of the Institute for Research and Development, Asst. Prof. Dr. Thythavat Janevatchararuk from the Institute of International Studies, Ramkhamhaeng University, Dr. Chutiwat Suwatthipong, Faculty Member of Office of Educational Technology of STOU, and Miss Aimee Srirasan, a famous Tiktoker.

    The High School Category

    The Winner’s Award goes to a group from Anurajaprasit School, with the video clip titled “สร้างเส้นทางสู่ความสำเร็จด้วยการศึกษาทางไกล มสธ.” (The path of success with learning and distance education of STOU).

    The First Runner-Up Award goes to a group from Nonthaburi Wittayalai School, with the video clip titled “มสธ.การศึกษา
    ไร้พรมแดน” (STOU: Education Without Boundaries).

    The Second Runner-Up Award goes to a group from Suankularb Wittayalai Nonthaburi School, with the video clip titled
    “แพ็คเป๋ามาเรียน มสธ.” (Packing bag to study at STOU).

    The Honorable Mention Award was presented to 2 groups of students from Vorrarat Suksa School and Suankularb Wittayalai Nonthaburi School.

    The Higher Education Institutions and Prachachuen Research Network Category

    The Winner’s Award goes to Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, with the video clip titled “มสธ.ทางเลือกที่ดีที่สุด”
    (The best choice STOU).

    The First Runner-Up Award goes to Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, with the video clip titled “มสธ. ที่ไหน เวลาใด ใครก็เรียนได้” (Anywhere anytime everyone can learn at STOU).

    The Second Runner-Up Award goes to Bangkok University, with the video clip titled “นี่แหละความฝัน” (This is the dream).

    The General Category

    The Winner Award goes to challenge angel team, with the video clip titled “มสธ.มหาวิทยาลัยที่สะดวกที่สุดสำหรับทุกคน”
    (STOU pleasant university for everyone).

    The First Runner-Up Award goes to Mr. Suwichai Wetso, with the video clip titled “ทุกที่ ทุกเวลา ที่ มสธ.” (Everywhere everytime at STOU).

    The Second Runner-Up Award goes to Ms. Piyamaporn Muangthong (น.ส.ปิยมาภรณ์ เหมืองทอง), with the video clip titled
    “พลิกชีวิตใหม่ด้วยศึกษาทางไกล มสธ.” (Change the life with STOU).

    The Honorable Mention Award was presented to 3 group of students, which are Dr. Vinita Kaewkua and team,
    Mr. Krit Lohasuwan and Mr. Dinnapop Yang.

    There were also Popular Vote Award on the online social media platform, which was awarded to the video clip titled
    “จะพลิก..จะ Click ก็ Tik ถูกใจ กับการศึกษาทางไกลของ มสธ” (Swipe or Click is easy with distance learning of STOU )
    by  Dr. Vinita Kaewkua and team.

    Research Awards Ceremony 2024

    On 4 September 2024, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) organized the Research Awards Ceremony 2024 to promote the distance education system of STOU, which was held in celebration of the 46th year Anniversary of STOU on 5 September 2024.

    Asst. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU, presided over the event and presented the Research Awards 2024. The research awards ceremony aims to foster a research-oriented environment at the university and motivate staff to conduct high-quality research that contributes to the development of the university, society, and the country. This year’s awards recognize 11 research projects, with 2 projects received Excellent Research Awards and 9 projects received Good Research Awards. All the award recipients were presented with honorary plaque and a monetary.

  • Poetry Reading Competition

    Poetry Reading Competition

    On 3 September 2024, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) organized the primary student poetry reading competition on Maha Asiarawat Raja Stuti (royal praise poem) at Seminar Building I (Seminar and Training Center). In this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taweewat Watthanakuljaroen, Dean of School of Educational Studies, presided over the opening ceremony and presented awards. There were 20 schools joining this competition, including boy students from 17 schools and girl students from 16 schools. The committee included Asst. Prof. Dr. Apirak Anaman, Mr. Anusorn Kadaman and Mrs. Talima Ploypanich.

    The wining students were awarded a trophy, a certificate, and a cash prize. This competition event was organized to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 6-cycle birthday on 28 July 2024, and to promote Thai reading and speaking skills. Moreover,
    the competition was held to the celebrate the 46th year Anniversary of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University.

    STOU Innovation & Good Practices Award 2024

    On 2 September 2024, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) organized Innovation and Good Practice Award Ceremony 2024, which was held at Aneknitat Building (Conference Hall). In this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU, presided over the opening ceremony and presented the awards.

    The event aims to encourage personnel from all departments within the university to participate in innovation development to support the department’s main missions and to use their knowledge and abilities to innovate or enhance existing works, responding to the needs of the  students.

    For this year, there are 18 works in the competition, divided into 6 categories:

    1. Distance Education Innovation
    2. Product Innovation
    3. Service Innovation
    4. Process Innovation
    5. Organizational Innovation
    6. Management Innovation.

    Dr. Sasiyanai Sanpang and Dr. Apisit Thaoyabut, Faculty Member of the Office of Educational Technology, received the Winner’s Award for “Innovation in Organizing Training Workshops Organization of Office of Educational Technology.”

    Mr. Veerapol Matale from the Office of Computer Services received The First Runner-Up Award for “IT Help Desk.”

    Asst. Prof. Dr. Pimprapa Phanphai and Asst. Prof. Dr. Phantipa Amornrit, Faculty Members of the Office of Educational Technology, received The Second Runner-Up Award for “Watpon.tools : Individual measurement and evaluation tools.”

    Asst. Prof. Dr. Mayurin Laorujisawat, Faculty Member of the School of Health and Science, received The Honorable Mention Award for “Online System for Reporting, Monitoring, and Collecting Student Evaluation Results for Course 52405: Professional Public Health Internship in Community, School of Health Sciences.”

    Miss Ratchakon Kongjaroen Miss Duangrat Dikhua and Miss Patthrawadee Poolboon, from the Office of Documentation
    and Information, received The Honorable Mention Award from “STOU Storian Podcast – STOU Identity: Sustainable Lifelong Learning Resource.”

    The Curriculum and the Instruction Development Section, the Office of Academic Affairs and Mr. Amnat Thammakit from
    the Office of Computer Services, received The Honorable Mention Award for “Curriculum Management Information System Development Project.”

  • STOU in Thailand Research Expo 2024

    STOU in Thailand Research Expo 2024

    The National Research Council of Thailand, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, in collaboration with research network agencies across the country, organized the Thailand Research Expo 2024 under the concept “Synergizing Research Power, Driving Thailand’s Economy and Society Sustainably.” The event was held from
    26 – 30 August 2024, at the Centara Grand Hotel and Bangkok Convention Center, Central World department store, Bangkok.
    In this expo, the Institute for Research and Development showcased one exhibition and presented two oral presentations.
    The exhibition a featured project on “Upgrading High-Quality Organic Fertilizer Products from Agricultural Waste for Business Purposes.” This project was conducted by the School of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU), in collaboration with Ban Sabai Jai and Ban Saraphi Community Enterprises in Samut Songkhram.
    Asst. Prof. Dr. Parichat Dittakit, Faculty Member of School of Agriculture and Cooperatives of STOU, was the project leader.

    The oral presentations included the following.

    1. An academic paper on “The Development of an Integrated Health Promotion Model to Prevent the Risk of Dementia in the Elderly in Nonthaburi Province”, led by Assoc. Prof. Pol.Lt.Col. Dr. Sukaroon Wongtim, Faculty Member of School of Educational Studies of STOU

    2. A project on “Developing Local Innovation Potential to Promote Lifelong Learning” led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanathnuth Chatpakkarattana, Faculty Member of Office of Educational Technology.

    In this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU, received a plaque of honor from
    Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of National Research Council of Thailand (NRTC). STOU has collaborated with NRTC
    as part of a research network to drive and develop research and innovation personnel under the training project “Creating New Generation Researchers”

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thitirussaya Ganpech, Faculty Member of Office of Educational Technology received a certificate of recognition as a main lecturer for the researcher development course in the lecture section. They also received a certificate of appreciation as the head of the “Creating New Generation Researchers” training project.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanathnuth Chatpakkarattana, Faculty Member of Office of Educational Technology also received a certificate of recognition as a main lecturer for the researcher development course in the lecture section.

    During the closing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sungworn Ngudgratoke received an honorary plaque for the dynamic participation in this year National Research Expo.

    On 31 August 2024, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) organized the Certificate of Achievement Presentation Ceremony for over 6,000 awardees in academic year 2023. In this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU, was the president of the ceremony, which was held at Seminar Building I (Seminar and Training Center).

    Congratulations to all 6,064 students on your achievement!

    The Certificate of Achievement Program is a program that opens up opportunities for those interested in approaching education. It is designed for those who want to develop knowledge
    and skills in academic and professional management across various fields. The project aims to enhance and improve quality of life, as well as increase the professional academic status of participants. This program is open to people of all ages and educational background.
    Students don’t need to attend classes and can create their own schedule at an affordable price. Students can accumulate credits that can be transferred towards earning a degree qualification at STOU.

    In the past two years, STOU’s Certificate of Achievement Program has seen increased popularity and demand from learners, with more than 10,000 applicants per year.

    STOU Donation in August 2024

    On 1 August 2024, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan,
    Acting Vice-President for Academic Services, Cultural Preservation, and International Affairs, delivered full-body stockings and hard plastic cups to the Sirindhorn National Medical Rehabilitation Institute (SNMRI). The full-body stockings and hard plastic cups would be recycled to produce prosthetic legs.

    On 2 August 2024 Miss Kittiya Chayangam, Head of STOU Nonthaburi Student Club delivered donated dolls, shoes, stationaries, cloth bags, paper bags and lottery tickets to Mr. Tamphong Wongchan, Acting Director of the STOU’s Regional Academic Resources and Community Engagement Center – Nonthaburi and the representative from the Department of International Affairs, the STOU’s representative. Then STOU would distribute these donated items to the Mirror Foundation and Baan Nokkamin Foundation. Lottery tickets would be distributed to Wat Huai Mu – Ratchaburi. Cloth and paper bags would be distributed to Thammasat University Hospital.

    On 8 August 2024 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan, Acting Vice-President for Academic Services, Cultural Preservation, and International Affairs, accompanied by staff from
    the Department of International Affairs, represented the university to donate both new and reusable items such as dolls, toys, shoes, stationaries, clothes, rain jackets, and stationaries
    to the Mirror Foundation.

    The Mirror Foundation is an NGO where working involves social development, human rights, media and IT, volunteer development, and resources sharing to enhance learning and life potential, with operational areas covering online (internet), urban, and rural communities.

    The Mirror Foundation hopes to be a mirror that reflects the real stories of society and helps those affected by social changes. There philosophy is to create people and create innovations, which will create changes to society through various projects. The Mirror Foundation welcomes volunteers to help and create activities towards these goals.

    On 9 August 2024 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan, Acting Vice-President for Academic Services, Cultural Preservation, and International Affairs, as a representative of STOU, accompanied by the representative of the Department of International Affairs, donated both new and reusable items such as dolls, toys, shoes, clothes, stationaries, bags and books to Baan Nokkamin Foundation.

    Baan Nokkamin Foundation is a Christian organization that offers assistance to orphans, street children, underprivileged children, the elderly and drug addicts by developing and changing their lives and strengthening them emotionally so that they are ready to face the world in the future with taking care as “Family” through projects. Baan Nokkamin Foundation welcomes volunteers to create activities for children.
